So I woke up ridiculously early this morning and for some strange reason decided it would be the perfect time to attempt the outside running… Can I just say? SO MUCH HARDER! I don’t know if it was because I was still half asleep, or just the difference between the treadmill/pavement but oy… The last part of the last running segment I think I might have been able to walk faster!! (ok, so maybe it wasn’t THAT bad..) Anyway, I survived.. but I’m beginning to think I’m much more out of shape then I originally anticipated. Why is this so much harder then regular cardio on a machine? I can use the cross trainer for 3x as long and not be half as tired.. Crazy! I did enjoy the scenery though!!
And so begins a new week.. I haven’t decided yet if i’m ready to venture forward in the program or perhaps stick with these sessions one more week to see if it makes a difference. I’m not in a hurry and I don’t want to get frustrated and give up.. We’ll see how it goes.
In other news, it is a BEAUTIFUL day out.. don’t spend to much of it inside!!

Well I didn’t make it to the gym but once last week, so i decided on the running front to have a do-over week! Monday I revisited workout 7 and tonight I did 8.. I was tired when I was done.. but not exhausted.. I think I could run longer if I wasn’t watching the clock lol (I think it makes me tired). tonight between the running/walking I made it 2 miles.. not bad. I’m toying with the idea of running outside one night when it’s cool just to see if I like it better. We’ll see. Still lovin’ the shoes and no blisters which is a wonderful thing!

Well this one was a little rough.. probably because I was tired after work and had to force myself to go… oh, and note to self - check the incline on the treadmill before you start.. (yea, that might have had something to do with it too!)

Check out these gems!
They are Saucony Progrid Triumph 5. And can I just say they are LOVELY! I ran this morning (6/27 baby!) and I had no pain in my shins or my heels! (I guess switching from a cross trainer to an actual running shoe will do that eh?) I bought them last night at Running Free in Barrie. The saleslady (Cathy) was so very helpful. We got there at 6:30 (there were 3 of us) and they closed at 7. She watched me walk/run in my socks and then recommended a couple shoes. Then watched me run in them to make sure they were giving me the correct support etc. After she finished with me.. the other girls I was with decided they in fact wanted some too. We left at 8:30 and she was STILL happily helping another customer who must have come in well after 7. Great store, great service, and now I have some astronaut shoes!!! (sorry, that’s what they look like to me!)
So, week 2 of the 9 week program is done. I can totally do this ;) This morning I did the running, some crunches, some weights, and then another 10 mins on the cross trainer (well it was actually 11.31 or something because I did the “I’ll just do 10 mins or 1500 strides, whichever comes first” trick and then at 10 mins decided I could just suck it up stay on until the 1500!) It’s such a mental game sometimes! Anyway, it was good. Bring on week 3!
